Barbara Török

My name is Barbara Török, and I am a mother of three children with a passion for the world of bees. Since childhood, I have had a special connection with these hardworking little creatures: my first encounter with beekeeping was through the hives of our neighbor, and I often spent hours watching the bees at work. The wonders of nature enchanted me even then.

Later, I came close to beekeeping again through my husband’s family. My husband’s grandfather – who has been engaged in beekeeping for over half a century – needed some help around the hives. Alongside my young children, it was important for me to find an activity that energizes me but also represents new challenges. This is how we began our collaboration, during which I also learned the science of beekeeping.

In addition to the valuable experiences gained from my grandfather-in-law, I continuously educated myself and completed an adult education course in beekeeping so that we could represent both tradition and modern, sustainable beekeeping.

My goal is to offer premium quality honey to all those who appreciate these treasures of nature.

Every jar of honey contains our family knowledge, respect for nature and love for bees. I hope that with our products, I can pass on not only the flavors but also the respect for bees to everyone.

I became close to bees in my childhood, as my great-grandfather’s garden in Transylvania had hives with wooden shingle roofs. In my grandfather’s garden, there were slightly more modern hives, and my father also started beekeeping at a young age. So, one could say that beekeeping is a family tradition for me. Experiences, knowledge and the love for bees have been passed down through generations in our family. Therefore, my love for bees runs deep as well and it is a great joy for me to walk among the hives and smell the scent of bees and honey.

The goal of our new beekeeping venture is to bring not only Hungarian honey but also various pure and high-quality honeys from the Carpathian Basin to you.

For us, honey and beekeeping are not just work; they are a hobby, a way of life, and a profession that has spanned generations and is now being passed on to our children. We believe that caring for and protecting bees, as well as respecting pure honey, is of utmost importance, not only for our small community but also for the broader ecosystem.

Therefore, alongside the best quality Hungarian honeys, we also sell honey varieties from Transylvania and the Southern Plains—such as mountain honey, which has a unique quality and rich flavor that is unlike any other. In my childhood, we always “vacationed” with the bees in the summer among the mountain ranges of the Carpathians, where the honey comes from the flowers of the pristine, untouched mountain pastures, where the wild raspberry flowers, along with the diversity of wildflowers and herbs, produced unique honey specialties. Mountain honeys are not only delicious but also have healing properties, thanks to the vitamins contained in the mountain plants.

The meadows of the Southern Plains also boast rich and diverse blooming. All of these contribute to the unique taste and aroma of our honeys.

The diverse flora of the locations described above allows for the collection of various flavored pure honeys — each reflecting the natural wealth and beauty of the region.

My belief: honey is not a medicine and not a cure, which is why everyone should eat honey every day!

When I smell the scent of honey, the image of our childhood beach outings immediately comes to mind, together with those two curious little bees that stung me after swimming. At that time, I had no idea that this little incident would foreshadow my long-term relationship with these wonderful little creatures. It took forty years for me to once again immerse myself more deeply in the world of bees.

Now, forty years following this encounter, I proudly stand in front of our own honey processing plant, which I founded with two dear friends, Áron and László. Over the years, my passion for honey has only grown, and the desire to share this passion with others led us to create this business.

In our plant, we process the highest quality honey, carefully monitoring every step to offer the finest and purest honey products possible. For us, honey is not just a sweetener; it is the love of life, nature, and work that we pour into each of our products.

We pay special attention to quality and processing methods, as we know that excellent honey is not only delicious but also nutritious and healthy. Therefore, our business is committed to applying the best processing practices and contributing to a healthy lifestyle with our products.

Every day when I enter the plant and smell the fresh scent of honey, I am grateful to those two little bees that stung me in my childhood, as they set me on this path, which has now become not just a business but also a community and a passion for me.

When I think of honey, I remember my childhood and the garden of my grandma and grandpa, to which I have many memories tied.

I grew up among beehives, as my grandparents and also father were passionate beekeepers. The bees and honey sometimes enchanted me and sometimes filled me with frustration. I was fascinated by the diligent work of the bees, their buzzing, and how they collect nectar from flowers, returning to their hives with their legs laden with (nect) pollen like fighter jets. I was also impressed by how skillfully the bees navigate and find their way back to their families.

From this distance in time, I look back on the annoyances with a loving heart, recalling how I was stung by those little fluffy, yellow striped “troublemakers” while picking strawberries or plums. I also remember how I would cry and go to my grandma to heal me, which consisted of a little garlic and a cold spoon pressed against the sting. It also bring smile to my face when I think back to how many times, my grandpa, my dad, or myself accidentally hit our fingers with a hammer while preparing the frames for the beeswax foundation. I also remember the excitement I felt waiting for the mornings before the honey extraction days, when I could be part of the wonder of extracting fresh honey with the adults. This is where my love for bees and honey originated.

Over the years, alongside my father, I have come to know more deeply the process of honey production and the unique attributes of different types of honey, both as a beekeeper and a honey lover. For me, honey is more than just a simple sweetener or treat; it is the essence of nature, bringing harmony and health to our daily lives, and not least, a little smile to honey-sweet mornings.

I always enjoy sharing my experiences with others, whether it’s about recipes, health tips, or the mysterious world of bees. My goal is to let as many people as possible get to know and appreciate the magic of honey and to discover its versatility in the kitchen and other areas of life.

This motivated me when we created our business, to pass on all the love, delicacy, and health that I received from the bees and honey, hoping that the sweet, fruity taste of our honeys will bring a satisfied smile to your faces.
