Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup Honey Island honey
- 14 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional, if like it spicy)
Preparation:
Mixing the Ingredients:
In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the honey, soy sauce, olive oil, crushed garlic, Dijon mustard, and apple cider vinegar.
Add the smoked paprika, pepper, salt, and chili flakes (if using). Stir well to combine the flavors thoroughly.
Marinating the Meat:
Place the meat (chicken, pork, beef, or lamb) in a large resealable bag or bowl.
Pour the marinade over the meat, making sure every piece is well coated.
Seal the bag or cover the bowl, then refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours, but for best results, marinate overnight.
Grilling:
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
Remove the meat from the marinade and shake off excess marinade (do not wipe it off completely).
Grill the meat on both sides until fully cooked and nicely browned. Occasionally baste the meat with the remaining marinade to enhance the flavor.
Serving:
After grilling, let the meat rest for a few minutes so the juices can redistribute.
Serve with fresh vegetables, salad, or grilled side dishes.
Additional Tips
Variations: Experiment with different spices and ingredients such as fresh ginger, orange juice, or even a splash of whiskey in the marinade to create an even more special flavor profile.
Vegetable Marinating: The honey grill marinade is not only great for meats but also pairs wonderfully with vegetables. Marinate eggplant, zucchini, peppers, or mushrooms before grilling.
