Ingredients:
Dough:
- 500 g flour
- 200 g butter
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 packet baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- 2 egg yolks
- 150 ml sour cream
- 100 g powdered sugar
Filling:
- 300 g ground walnuts
- 200 g powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 300 apricot (icot) jam
Chocolate Coating:
- 200 g dark chocolate
- 50 g butter
Preparation:
Making the Dough:
In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Crumble in the butter, then add the powdered sugar.
Add the egg yolks, honey, and sour cream. Knead into a smooth dough.
Divide the dough into four parts and let rest for 30 minutes.
Filling:
Mix the ground walnuts, powdered sugar, and cinnamon.
Layering:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
Roll out the first dough sheet and place it in a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Spread apricot jam over it, then sprinkle with the walnut mixture.
Repeat layering with the second and third dough sheets.
Place the fourth dough sheet on top and prick it with a fork.
Baking:
Bake the Zserbó for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
Let it cool completely.
Chocolate Coating:
Melt the chocolate and butter over a double boiler.
Pour the chocolate over the cooled cake and spread evenly.
Let the chocolate set.
Serving and Storage
Honey Zserbó tastes best after resting for a day, allowing the to meld. Cut into small squares and serve at festive occasions or family gatherings. Store in an airtight container to keep it fresh.
